Our Favorite Bike Trails in Leavenworth, WA
The exhilaration of maneuvering through a winding track while descending from the top of a mountain is something all outdoor enthusiasts should experience. After a short time, you’ll find out why mountain biking is one of the more well-known things to do in Leavenworth. Be sure to check out these spots during your Washington vacation:
- Freund Canyon is a challenging, ridgeline climb that rewards those who scale it with an exhilarating descent rife with zig-zags, berms, tabletops, and a fantastic view of Leavenworth, WA. Since there are a series of trails on this loop, be sure to follow the signs and bear right to the double track that will quickly turn into a single when you get to the top, then turn left at the second split. The Rosy Boa starts as a split from Freund Loop about one mile after the climb. Like the Freund, Rosy Boa has some stunning views and narrow ridgelines.
- Xanadu Trail starts as a relatively easy double-track climb to a ridgetop that turns into a steep, narrow single-track descent that provides little room for mistakes. There are two very technical sections: a hairpin turn and a 7-foot boulder drop, and a massive slick rock with loose gravel before hitting another steep incline.
- Stevens Pass Mountain Bike Park is a Leavenworth staple that caters to adventurers of all skill levels. Ensconced upon the mountains, Steven’s Pass is Washington’s only lift-served downhill bike park and even provides a bike school that includes private lessons.
- Leavenworth Bike Pump Park isn’t as much of a trail as it is a playground for bike enthusiasts. Ridden by shifting one’s weight in relation to the course’s transition, this continuous loop of rollers and berms requires no pedaling if done correctly. Leavenworth Bike Pump Track is a great way to improve handling skills and cardiovascular endurance for all skill levels and is worth a visit while mountain biking in Washington.
